WHAT IS SAME DAY DENTISTRY?

What Is Same Day Dentistry  And Why Does It Change Everything?

Same Day Densitry

Same day dentistry means exactly what it says: dental treatment that is diagnosed, designed, and completed in a single appointment  the same day you come in. No coming back next week. No wearing a temporary crown for a month while a lab processes your case. No juggling multiple appointments around your work schedule.

This is made possible by the technology we've invested in at Westside Dental Center. Our in-house CAD/CAM crown milling system, CT 3D imaging, digital intraoral scanners, and Overjet Ai diagnostics allow Dr. Dham to move from examination to treatment in one seamless visit  with results that match or exceed what a traditional multi-visit process delivers.

Same day dentistry isn't a shortcut. It's a smarter, more efficient way to deliver high-quality dentel center, one that respects your time, reduces the stress of multiple appointments, and gets your mouth healthy and functional again as quickly as possible.

For patients across Plantation, Davie, Sunrise, Fort Lauderdale, Parkland, Margate, Weston, Cooper City, Pembroke Pines and all of South Florida who lead busy lives, same day dentistry at Westside Dental Center has been genuinely life-changing.

WHAT WE CAN DO IN ONE APPOINTMENT

What Can Actually Be Done in a Single Visit  You Might Be Surprised

Same day dentistry covers more ground than most patients expect. Here's what we routinely complete in a single appointment at Westside Dental Center.

Same-Day Dental Crowns

This is the most well-known same day treatment and the one that surprises patients most. Traditionally, getting a crown meant two appointments separated by two to three weeks, with an uncomfortable temporary crown in between. At Westside Dental Center, we design, mill, and fit your permanent crown in a single visit using our in-house CAD/CAM system. It fits precisely, looks completely natural, and you leave with a finished restoration not a temporary one.

Dental Fillings

Composite resin fillings are completed in one appointment examination, decay removal, bonding, and polish. Tooth-coloured and matched to your natural shade, all done in under an hour in most cases.

Tooth Extraction

When a tooth needs to come out, we don't make you wait for another day. Dr. Dham performs extractions in-house, including straightforward wisdom tooth removals, with sedation options available if needed.

Provisional Bridges & Restorations

For patients beginning a longer restorative journey, we can fabricate high-quality provisional restorations in-house the same day so you never leave without something functional and natural-looking in place.

Teeth Whitening

Zoom in-office teeth whitening is completed in a single appointment you walk in with stained teeth and walk out with a dramatically brighter smile, couple of shades brighter.

Emergency Dental Treatment

Chipped tooth, knocked-out crown, broken filling, dental abscess dental emergencies don't follow a calendar. We keep same-day slots available for patients who need urgent care, and we'll do everything possible to treat the problem completely on the day you call.

Digital Impressions & Treatment Planning

Even for treatments that require more than one appointment like implants or full-mouth restoration, we can complete your full examination, imaging, digital impressions, and treatment planning all in your very first visit, so the process moves as efficiently as possible.

HOW SAME-DAY CROWNS WORK?

Same-Day Crowns at Westside Dental Center From Scan to Smile in One Visit The same-day crown process is one of the most impressive things we offer at Westside Dental Center and one of the things our patients talk about most. Here's exactly how it works, step by step.

  • STEP 1

    Examination & Diagnosis

Dr. Dham examines the tooth and takes digital X-rays and, where needed, a CBCT scan. Overjet AI diagnostics assist with identifying the full extent of damage or decay. If a crown is the right solution, we explain exactly why and what the process involves.

  • STEP 2

    Tooth Preparation

The tooth is numbed with local anaesthesia and prepared  meaning the damaged or decayed portions are removed and the tooth is shaped to accept the crown. You won't feel the procedure, just mild pressure at times.

  • STEP 3

    Digital Scan

Instead of traditional putty impressions  which are uncomfortable, time-consuming, and prone to distortion, we take a precise digital scan of your prepared tooth and surrounding teeth using our intraoral scanner. This takes just a few minutes and produces a highly accurate 3D model

  • STEP 4

    Crown Design

The digital model is used to design your custom crown right here in our Plantation office. Dr. Dham reviews the design for fit, bite alignment, and aesthetics — ensuring the crown will look and function exactly right before a single piece of material is milled.

  • STEP 5

    In-House Milling

The crown is milled from a solid block of high-quality ceramic material using our CAD/CAM system. This takes approximately 15–20 minutes. While you wait comfortably in our office, your permanent crown is being fabricated right down the hall.

  • STEP 6

    Fitting & Bonding

The finished crown is checked for fit, bite, and colour match. Any minor adjustments are made chairside. Once everything is perfect, the crown is permanently bonded to your tooth. You leave with a completed, natural-looking restoration — the same day you came in.

THE TECHNOLOGY BEHIND SAME DAY DENTISTRY

The Technology That Makes Same Day Dentistry Possible at Westside Dental Center

Same day dentistry isn't magic, it's the result of significant investment in the right tools. Here's what makes it work at our Plantation office.

iTero & Medit Digital Intraoral Scanners

Our digital scanners capture precise, detailed 3D models of your teeth in minutes no messy impressions, no gagging, no distortion. The scans feed directly into our treatment planning and crown design software, giving us an accurate foundation to work from every time.

In-House CAD/CAM Crown Milling

This is the engine behind same-day crowns. Our CAD/CAM system designs and mills custom ceramic crowns in-house eliminating the need for an external dental lab entirely. What used to take two to three weeks now takes one appointment.

CT 3D Cone Beam Imaging

For complex cases implant planning, root issues, bone assessment our CBCT scanner gives Dr. Dham a complete 3D picture of your jaw, nerves, and bone structure before treatment begins. No guesswork. No surprises.

Overjet AI Diagnostics

AI-powered analysis of your X-rays that detects decay, bone changes, and other issues at a level of precision that goes beyond the human eye. Earlier detection means treatment stays simpler and same-day resolution becomes more achievable.

In-House 3D Printing

We use in-house 3D printing to fabricate surgical guides, provisional restorations, and study models further reducing the time between diagnosis and treatment.

Fotona Laser

For procedures involving soft tissue gum contouring, laser cavity treatment, crown lengthening the Fotona laser allows us to complete work more efficiently and with faster healing than traditional tools.

Whether you need a crown, a filling, an emergency fix, or just want to know what your options are, we can often sort it out the same day you call. Book a consultation and find out what's possible.

WHO IS SAME DAY DENTISTRY FOR?

Who Benefits Most From Same Day Dentistry?

Same day dentistry isn't just for dental emergencies. It's ideal for anyone who values their time, wants to minimize the number of dental appointments, or simply wants a better experience than the traditional multi-visit process

You're a great candidate for same day dentistry if:

  • You have a busy schedule and can't easily take multiple days off for dental appointments
  • You need a crown and don't want to deal with a temporary for weeks
  • You have dental anxiety and want to minimize the number of visits
  • You've broken or chipped a tooth and need it fixed quickly
  • You're visiting from out of town and need treatment completed in one visit
  • You want to start and finish a restoration without it dragging on for months
  • You have a dental emergency and need same-day care

Same day dentistry may involve more than one appointment if:

  • Your treatment plan is complex such as full-mouth restoration or implant placement, which involves a healing phase
  • Multiple procedures need to be staged for clinical reasons
  • Further specialist input is required

In every case, Dr. Dham will be clear with you upfront about what can be completed the same day and what will require follow-up, so you always know what to expect before you sit in the chair.

FAQ’S

Same Day Dentistry FAQs — Straight Answers to What Patients Ask Most

Are same-day crowns as good as lab-made crowns?

Yes, in most cases, the quality is equivalent. Our in-house CAD/CAM system uses the same high-grade ceramic materials as external dental labs. The difference is that Dr. Dham is involved in the design process directly, can make adjustments before milling begins, and can refine the fit chairside. Many patients find the result is actually superior because there's no lab translation involved

Does a same-day crown hurt?

No more than any other crown procedure. The tooth is fully numbed before preparation begins. The scanning, design, and milling phases are completely pain-free. Once the anaesthesia wears off  usually a few hours later  mild sensitivity is normal and typically fades within a day or two.

What if I need more than just a crown?

If your situation calls for additional treatment  a root canal before the crown, for example, or multiple restorations  Dr. Dham will map out the full plan during your consultation. Some elements may require follow-up appointments, but we'll always tell you exactly what can be done the same day and what needs to be staged.

Dental Implant

Do you treat dental emergencies on the same day?

Yes  we make every effort to. If you're experiencing pain, a broken tooth, a lost crown, or a dental abscess, call us first thing. We prioritise patients in genuine distress and will do everything possible to treat you the same day you call.

How long does a same-day crown appointment take?

Plan for approximately two to three hours from start to finish. This includes examination, tooth preparation, digital scanning, crown design, milling, fitting, and bonding. Most patients find the wait during milling is a good opportunity to relax. We're happy to make you comfortable while your crown is being made.

Can you really see me the same day I call?

We do our best, yes. We keep urgent appointment slots available for patients who call with dental emergencies or time-sensitive needs. Call our Plantation office as early as possible and we'll do everything we can to get you in the same day.

Is same-day dentistry more expensive?

Not necessarily. Because same-day treatment eliminates temporary restorations and reduces the number of appointments required, it can actually be more cost-effective overall. Pricing for same-day crowns is comparable to traditional crown treatment at most practices. We'll always give you full, transparent pricing upfront.

What should I bring to a same-day appointment?

Bring a valid ID, your insurance card if you have one, and a list of any medications you're currently taking. Arriving 10–15 minutes early as a new patient helps us get started on time.
