HOW SAME-DAY CROWNS WORK?
Same-Day Crowns at Westside Dental Center From Scan to Smile in One Visit The same-day crown process is one of the most impressive things we offer at Westside Dental Center and one of the things our patients talk about most. Here's exactly how it works, step by step.
Dr. Dham examines the tooth and takes digital X-rays and, where needed, a CBCT scan. Overjet AI diagnostics assist with identifying the full extent of damage or decay. If a crown is the right solution, we explain exactly why and what the process involves.
The tooth is numbed with local anaesthesia and prepared meaning the damaged or decayed portions are removed and the tooth is shaped to accept the crown. You won't feel the procedure, just mild pressure at times.
Instead of traditional putty impressions which are uncomfortable, time-consuming, and prone to distortion, we take a precise digital scan of your prepared tooth and surrounding teeth using our intraoral scanner. This takes just a few minutes and produces a highly accurate 3D model
The digital model is used to design your custom crown right here in our Plantation office. Dr. Dham reviews the design for fit, bite alignment, and aesthetics — ensuring the crown will look and function exactly right before a single piece of material is milled.
The crown is milled from a solid block of high-quality ceramic material using our CAD/CAM system. This takes approximately 15–20 minutes. While you wait comfortably in our office, your permanent crown is being fabricated right down the hall.
The finished crown is checked for fit, bite, and colour match. Any minor adjustments are made chairside. Once everything is perfect, the crown is permanently bonded to your tooth. You leave with a completed, natural-looking restoration — the same day you came in.
